To help prepare for the event, Peers spent a year playing semi-professional men's basketball in France. naturally, she picked up yet another best player award. Currently, Peers serves a national ambassador for Muscular Dystrophy canada, sharing with people how the progressive condition is changing her life. Ten years ago, she was a star player of the upright game; now she walks with crutches or uses a wheelchair. The U of A is her training and academic home.
